Due for completion in 2021, Shard Place will be a 26 story multi-use development, including 180,000sq ft of residential apartments and ground-floor retail units, and will include a roof garden, swimming pool and full concierge service.
As this large project will take several years to complete, there was a requirement for the permanent BS5839-1 fire alarm system to be linked to the temporary site-wide system to ensure full coverage at all time.
Equipment was supplied on a contract hire basis giving the customer total cost control and a system delivered on budget.
As the site offices were moved into parts of the live project, Howler designed, installed and commissioned the BS5839-1 fire alarm system in the offices. This is in line with the recommendation set out in the Joint Code of Practice section 13.8. The BS5839 system is configured to talk to the temporary site-wide system, and both systems are incredibly easy to operate and work with.
Howler have worked with Mace to relocate control panels and recommission systems to accommodate a number of office/security office moves that have had to happen as the project has progressed.
