St James

St James – Stamford Square

Project Outline

To install temporary fire alarms in 49 luxury apartments over eight floors in order to facilitate a change in evacuation strategy from stay put to simultaneous evacuation.

Project Challenges

Before works could commence we had to interpret the risk assessment, provide marked-up drawings along with an apartment access plan and provide a detailed cause and effect schematic for approval

Due to the sensitive nature of the project, and the global health crisis, we needed to keep individual flat access to one visit. Our client was obviously keen to avoid repeat access to the apartments too. We also needed to complete the works and change the evacuation policy in as short a timescale as possible, with minimal disturbance to the residents

Howler Solution

Working closely with the property manager and our client, we managed to complete the installation, carry out a soak test and commission the system within 1 week. We put one of our A-Teams on the job, and fitted a total of 194 devices in 3 days!

In addition to the works outlined in the contract, we also fixed the side gate. It’s all in a day’s work!

Client Feedback

“Please would you pass on my sincere thanks to your team who carried out the installation of the temporary detection system at Stamford Square. They were an excellent team and have done an excellent job, especially Matt who was extremely efficient – we managed the complete installation ahead of schedule. On my request, Matt & Eddie even helped me fix our side gate – they had a very good customer attitude and it deserves to be recognised.”
